Portrait Inspiration

Surreal self-portraits by Izumi Miyazaki

Miyazaki's portraits have a lot of interesting character and creative ideas that really stand out to me. Her self-portraits are always so quirky and with a sense of humor, combined with her editing skill, creates a great set of surrealist photographs.

Portrait by Martin Parr

I like this portrait because it has a great color combination and the colors are vibrant. The close composition technique draws attention to a lot of explicit details.

Portraits by Yeondoo Jung

Inventing Realities is a series by Yeondoo Jung, a photographer from Korea. Jung interviewed people about their dreams and visions of the future and then recreated them in photos. In the photo, the subject is a call girl from Taiwan, she said she never experienced a smooth life since she graduated from primary school, so she wanted to go back to primary school time when she and her friends were free and happy. Jung went back to the girl's primary school and recreate the scene. I am interested in the story behind each portrait Jung takes, the project is very meaningful.
